Master's Rowing Program: On the Water
Our
Master's Rowing Program officially starts May 11th and runs
through the end of October or early November. We offer
instruction, recreational rowing, and competitive rowing
opportunities for interested participants. Both sweep rowing
(eight's and four's) and sculling (singles, doubles, and
quads) are offered.
Historically, we have held approximately nine to ten scheduled
practices per week - the exact schedule is confirmed once we
determine the level of interest and number of participants. As
an example, last year we offered rowing sessions from 5:30 AM
- 7:00 AM and from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM, each approximately five
times per week. This generally includes a Saturday morning
session, but not on Sunday.
We welcome
adult rowers of all ages, shapes, sizes, and skill levels. A
"Master" rower is considered to be 27 years old or older,
though we will allow anyone 21+ to row with us. The annual
rowing program fee is $450 plus a $60 annual membership fee.
Our rowing
program is based on a twelve-month cycle from your start
date. If you join the rowing program on July 22nd,
you can row the following year from May-July 22nd
before rejoining. Membership renewal is based on your
individualized anniversary date. We also offer indoor
training for up to 6 months during the months of Dec-May for
the fee of $275-300 (may change year to year). This fee is in
addition to the rowing fee, but if you join SRA for indoor
training in the winter, you may row on the water until the 1st
official day of spring rowing (May 11th in 2009), and then you
would join the Rowing portion of the program on May 11th. See
the registration form for extra pricing details.
Each
potential member can participate in three trial rowing
sessions (all three sessions must take place within two weeks
from the date of your initial session) prior to committing to
a membership. By then, it will be a no-brainer – you’ll join!
A waiver is needed prior to your first trial session.

large numbers of adult rowers interested in the SRA program,
