Gearing up for Saturday

The entries are in and the course is in, now we can look forward to Saturday and the Tail of the Fish. Looking ahead at the forecast, and we all know how fickle those can be, it looks like we are in for great weather this weekend. There is a projected high of 80 with what looks like a slight quartering tailwind. It looks to be a great way to open up racing on the Fish this fall.

See you soon!

SRA does the Firecracker 4

Last week on the 4th of July SRA had a good sized contingent of rowers to show up to run the Firecracker 4 miler in downtown Saratoga. There was a good sample of the SRA community both racing and volunteering: There were mod rowers, junior rowers, alumni, coaches and masters running on what turned out to be a beautiful day. The group ran 4 miles each, of varying paces, and everyone finished their run. It's nice to be able to get out and enjoy event sometimes, especially events that are so near and benefit th other teams in Saratoga. That's All, Until Next Time.

Junior Development Camps are back in Saratoga

The Spring racing season over, but things don't stay quiet on Fish Creek for too long. This week Fish Creek is playing host to the first of 3 weeks of Junior Development sculling camps. Girls from as far as South Florida and Portland, Oregon have made the trip out to Saratoga in order to gain and sharpen their sculling skills.

While the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast are strong regions known for producing fast sculling squads the first week of camp has a particuarly small local region group as the New York regents affect in State rowers and make up days affect a lot of the other rowers in the region. The girls who were able to participate in this weeks camp have seen excellent weather so far in what is shaping up to be a hot summer. The late thaw and the days we asked it to be a little warmer seem like a distant memory now.
