Monday, October 22, 2012 at 12:39PM For the first time in program history, the SRA has won the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta.
The Varsity Girls eight of Caroline Murphy, Claire Murphy, Shannon Merboth, Lexi Georgia, Meghan Hampton, Mackenzie Battle, Kerri Wegner and Kelli Wegner were steered down the course magnificently by coxswain Mackenzie Hart (center). From their starting position of 5th, they were able to successfully pass the 2 crews in front of them and go on to clock the fastest time of the 84 boat race. They edged out last year's National Champion Oakland Strokes from Oakland, CA by just under 3 seconds to earn the win.
